University of Patras, Seismological Laboratory (UPSL) started its operation in 1990, under the Geology Department of University of Patras. UPSL is a member of the Hellenic Unified Seismic Network (HUSN) and has the responsibility of earthquake monitoring in central-western Greece. Moreover, the UPSL is an active partner of the Corinth Rift Lab involved in continuous monitoring of the Corinth Gulf. The main research interests of UPSL are the development and application of seismic methods, seismicity monitoring, wave propagation methods, investigation of site effects, development of new microzonation methods, seismic hazard studies, seismic scenarios and study of source and crust properties.

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), officially founded on 14 April 1837 is the first University not only of Greece but both the Balkan peninsula and the Eastern Mediterranean region. The Seismological Laboratory (SL) of NKUA was established in 1929 to contribute to the education of students attending the Faculties of Physics and Natural Science, as well as to monitor the seismicity of Greece and perform research.
The SL-NKUA maintains the ATHENET network, comprising more than 30 seismological stations, mainly deployed in Central Greece, including the Gulf of Corinth, but also in Cephalonia, Evia, the Cyclades Islands, as well as Nisiros Island. It possesses an extensive inventory of seismometric and accelerometric equipment, as well as data analysis facilities. The principal teaching and research activities of the Laboratory include: seismicity monitoring, engineering seismology and seismic hazard analysis (microzonation, vulnerability analysis and strong ground motion analysis), physics of the earthquake source, seismotectonics, geodynamics and earth system science, macroseismology, historical seismology, preparedness and protection against earthquake disasters, including the training of students, schools and the general public.

Created in 1921, the Institut de physique du globe de Paris is a major institution for higher education and research, governed by a board of directors, a scientific and education councils. As a component of Université Paris Cité, it supervises with it and with the CNRS, the Université de la Réunion and the IGN, the UMR 7154 IPGP, which brings together all the research activities. The National Observatory (NOA) of Athens was founded in 1842, the first research research Institution created in Greece. Its history is inextricably linked with the evolution of basic and applied research, the development of services provided to the Greek State and society at large, and the promotion and popularisation of science.

National Institute for Earth Physics (NIEP) is Romania’s premier institution dedicated to the study and monitoring of seismic activities. Established in February 1977 as the Center for Earth Physics (CFP) through the merger of the Seismology Department of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics with the Geodynamics Laboratory of the Romanian Academy, the institute underwent transformations in 1994 and 1996, culminating in its current designation.
NIEP operates a comprehensive seismic network across Romania, providing real-time data on earthquakes, including early warning, and contributing to public safety through rapid alert systems. The Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU) was established as an independent public research institution in 1981. It provided an institutional structure for a number of institutes that had already existed for several decades, organized as research departments of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Karst Research Institute is one of 18 research institutes at ZRC SAZU (The Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts), which was established as an independent public research institution. Karst Research Institute is situated in Postojna in SW Slovenia in the area of classical karst, which covers almost half of the country. The institute was established in 1947 and holds a long-term tradition of karstological studies in the field of geology, geography, hydrology, biology, chemistry, physics, karst water modeling, cave climate, paleokarst, etc. Karst Research Institute ZRC SAZU has also been the national coordinator for the EPOS research infrastructure project since 2010.

EPPO is a Legal Entity of Public Law under the supervision of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks of Greece. Its mission is the development and planning of the national earthquake protection policy, as well as the coordination of scientific resources for the implementation of this policy. In this context, EPPO contributes to disaster reduction based on actions such as providing knowledge of seismic risk and the seismic hazard, planning earthquake preparedness measures, raising awareness and knowledge for anti-seismic measures, participating in scientific/research projects and carrying out applied research.
The Institute of Engineering Seismology & Earthquake Engineering (ITSAK) was established in Thessaloniki in 1979 and merged with EPPO as a Research Unit in 2011. Its mission is the seismic risk mitigation based on research activities related to engineering seismology and earthquake engineering. It monitors a nation-wide accelerometers “free-field” network, on sconstructions and in special arrays, in total more than 250 accelerometers [https://www.itsak.gr/en/page/infrastructures/networks/acc_network/ , https://argonet-kefalonia.org ].
The Institute, in collaboration with its partners has participated in more than 50 international projects in the faramework of Human Capital & Mobility, INTAS, Environment I, II & V, FP5 and FP6, FP7, ΗΟRΙΖΟΝ, Black Sea Basin and UCPM Programmes. Over the last 40 years an extensive database of strong-motion recordings and damage information from earthquakes in Greece and surrounding area has been compiled as well as strong-motion recordings from other regions of the world. This database is linked to the European Engineering Strong Motion database (ESMdb) that has already been used by noumerous researchers and organizations worldwide (in seismic code, specific seismic risk studies etc.). To date the research activities of the Institute’s personnel have resulted in over 500 publications in reputable scientific journals and conference proceedings in the fields of engineering seismology, soil dynamics and earthquake engineering.
