Role in TRANSFORM2

CU participates In TRANSFORM2 project, in two work packages: WP3: Novel Workflows for Enhanced Detectability and Earthquake Catalogues and WP5: Test-Bed Concept. Our main effort in WP3 is concentrated on the determination of the centroid moment-tensor (CMT), which often has large differences reported by various agencies. This is due to the presence of noise and uncertain velocity models. Moreover, the agency solutions are only rarely supplemented by uncertainties. These issues can be overcome by employing Bayesian approaches that can be implemented in real-time procedures. Additional activities in WP3 will involve testing the ML denoising, ML unsupervised detection, adding uncertainty to ML pickers and ML phase associators in the EGERI NFO. Also the ML approaches for focal mechanism of weak events will be tested in this NFO. In the frame of the WP5, we will install two (or possibly three) Rotaphon sensors (Brokešová & Málek, 2024) in the Corinth Rift NFO to detect rotational components . The high-frequency geochemical instrument will also be tested in the EGERI NFO.
