TRANSFORM² Intermediate Meeting in Athens Concluded with Great Success

The TRANSFORM² hybrid Intermediate Meeting, hosted by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) from June 9–11, 2026, was successfully completed, marking a major milestone for the project’s progress.

The three-day event brought together more than 40 researchers, and scientists both in-person and online, fostering discussions and cross-disciplinary synergy among the consortium partners.

Key Outcomes & Technical Achievements:

    • Technical & Research Alignment: The meeting focused on the progress of the technical and dissemination Work Packages (WP2–WP6). Partners presented and aligned their latest advancements, covering everything from the Innovative Sensor Concept (WP2) and Novel workflows for enhanced detectability and earthquake catalogues (WP3), to the Earthquake Early Warning concept (WP4), the Test-bed concept (WP5), and the strategies for Communication, Dissemination & Impact control (WP6).
    • Hands-on Collaboration: A major highlight of the meeting was the interactive Software Installation Party on Day 3. Participants successfully demonstrated, configured, and tested specialized project software tools (including Unsupervised detection tools, Dlpicker, GISOLA, GAIASeis, and PPH-VA realtime), paving the way for immediate operational deployment.

  • Strategic Roadmap: The Project Manager Board, General Assembly, and Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) reviewed the intermediate financial and technical reports under Management & Coordination (WP1), finalizing the roadmap and cross-WP integration for the next phase of deliverables.

Networking & Team-Building Highlights:

Beyond the intensive technical sessions, the curated social program played a vital role in further developing a strong spirit of collaboration and fostering team-building among the consortium members:

    • A Journey into Astronomy: Attendees enjoyed a visit to the historic Newall Telescope at the Penteli Visitor Center of the National Observatory of Athens. The consortium extends its warmest thanks to the Penteli Visitor Center team — V. Kolokotronis, L. Koutoulidis, and Ch. Papadimitriou— for their hospitality.
    • Exploring Attica: The program also included an excursion to a nearby beach in the historic Marathon area, providing a scenic backdrop for informal networking and communication.

  • Official Dinner: The three-day event concluded with the official project dinner, where partners celebrated the successful completion of the meeting in a warm and collaborative atmosphere.

Next Steps & Material Availability

The extensive scientific material and technical presentations from the meeting have been compiled to drive the preparation of the project’s upcoming “White Book.”

All presentation slides and technical briefs are now available to the project partners through the TRANSFORM² repository, serving as a comprehensive knowledge base for our upcoming milestones.
