LZER0 GNSS station developed by OGS was
installed at the Corinth Rift Laboratory

On 4 March 2026, within the framework of the TRANSFORM² project and in connection with the Geo-INQUIRE Transnational Access activity LZER0 Evaluation with Geo-INQUIRE support in the Active NFO framework of TRANSFORM² (LEGANT), a LZER0 GNSS station developed by OGS (Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale) was installed at the Corinth Rift Laboratory (CRL), Greece. The installation was carried out by OGS technicians Paolo Fabris and Simone Galvi, who deployed and configured the system on site in  collaboration with the local team . The installed unit corresponds to the LZER0 NET model, a cost-effective GNSS monitoring device designed for continuous operation at remote monitoring stations. The system integrates a multi-constellation GNSS receiver, a calibrated GNSS antenna and a compact embedded Linux platform running RTKLIB for data acquisition and processing. The installation included the antenna setup, receiver configuration, and verification of power supply, connectivity and data acquisition.

At present the system is operating with a sampling rate of 1 Hz, allowing the first validation of the installation and the stability of the data acquisition chain. The LZER0 NET platform is  designed to provide both standard geodetic data products, such as RINEX files for post-processing, and real-time positioning services through RTKLIB-based workflows. In the next phase, the configuration will be further refined to provide real-time RTCM streams at 10 Hz, enabling the evaluation of higher-rate GNSS positioning capabilities within the CRL monitoring
framework. The experiment contributes to assessing the suitability of cost-effective GNSS technology for Near-Fault Observatory (NFO) applications and to exploring the possibility of densifying geodetic monitoring networks with scalable and affordable instrumentation. The
activity also strengthens the technical collaboration between OGS, the Corinth Rift Laboratory, Geo-INQUIRE and the broader TRANSFORM² infrastructure.
