Role in TRANSFORM2

The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) is a public research institution supervised by the Italian Ministry of University and Research. INGV has the main goal of contributing to the understanding of the Earth system’s dynamics and mitigating associated natural risks. The Institute's activities are divided into three main categories:

    1. Scientific and technological research in seismology, volcanology, and environmental sciences.

    2. Institutional research and service activities for society, public administrations, and industry. This includes monitoring seismic, volcanic, and tsunami activity in Italy under agreements with the Department of Civil Protection, as well as seismic and ground deformation monitoring in industrial areas for the Italian Ministry of Economic Development.

    3. The 'Third Mission', which includes education, public outreach, technology transfer, patents, spin-offs, museums, and science communication centers.
